Edmonton International Qualifier 2009
News October 27th. 2009, 10:59pmThis event will qualify one player to the prestigious 4th Edmonton International, which will take place between December 17-21. Besides having a chance to qualify for the main event you will also have a chance to contribute your share to top level chess in Edmonton as 50% of the entry fees will go towards the support of the Edmonton International. The qualifier is CFC and FIDE rated.
Dates: October 31-November 1
Registration: Saturday, October 31; 9:00-9:45 am
Time Control: 90 minutes+30 seconds increment
Entry Fee: $30. Non-CFC members, add $20 for adults, $10 for juniors (under 18)
Prizes: 50% of entries will be distributed as prizes, 50% will be used as a fund-raiser for the International
Class prizes are expected.
Format: 5 round Swiss
Times: Saturday, 10:00 am, ~2:00 pm, ~6:00 pm Sun: 10:00 am, ~2:00 pm
Late Policy: Players arriving one hour after the scheduled start time will lose on time.
Byes: Up to two half point byes will be available for rounds 1-4 if requested before the start of the event.
Qualification Spot:
The winner of the tournament will receive a spot at the 4th Edmonton International (he must still pay the entry fee). In case of a tie for first, the prize money will be split; however, the spot will be awarded based on the official ACA tie-break rules.
