Alberta Chess Championship

Along with the Alberta Chess Championship a reserves and Women’s
championship
will take place.

The Alberta Reserves will be a 5 round Swiss event on Saturday, March
22nd and Sunday March 23rd
.

The Alberta Women’s championship will be part of the Alberta Reserves
and if at least two women join the top scoring one will be crowned as
the new Alberta’s women champion, will have her name on the Alberta
Women’s championship trophy and will receive a special prize.

Any Female player who wishes to participate will receive a free entry
to the event as long as she buys a Canadian Chess Federation
membership ($10 for the event or $41 a year for adults and $13 a year
for kids)

Alberta Reserves details:
Location: Edmonton Chess Club. #204, 10840 124 st.
On-site registration: 9:00-9:45 am, Saturday March 22nd.
Round times: March 22nd, 10:00 am, ~2:00 pm, ~6:00 pm
March 23rd: 10:00 am, ~2:00 pm.
Entry fee: $25 adults, $20 juniors 18 and under, $10 juniors 14 and
under without a prize option, free for women. CFC membership is
mandatory and may be purchased on-site. Non-CFC members will pay
extra $10 to enter the event.

Prizes: 100% of entries. The prizes will include class prizes as
well as women’s prize (if at least 2 join)

Time control: Game 90+30 seconds increment.

Rules for byes: Up to two half point byes are allowed for rounds 1-
5. All half point byes must be announced before the start of the
tournament. 0 point byes are allowed for any round, but must be
announced before the pairings are done to avoid penalties.

Edmonton Blitz Championship

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, March 1st at the
Edmonton Chess Club.

Just like last year the ECC will be donating $75 to the prize fund
which will be boosted by 100% of entry fees.
It is expected to be quite many prizes, including class prizes,
in fact the only thing that should match the number of prizes in this
event will be the number of blunders.

Entry fee: $5 per participant (no CFC or any other kind of membership
is required)

Eligibility: Everyone is welcome to play!

Hours: Registration will be from 12:00-12:45, rounds will start at
1:00 pm (Please don’t be late as late registration will not be taken)

Expected end time 4:30-5:00 pm.

Format: Will be determined on-site as it will depend on the number
of participants.
